Encyclopedia Britannica

In this Wikipedia article you can find the history of the Britannica encyclopedia. You can find that it is a Scottish-founded company but now it is an American company .it is the oldest continuously published encyclopedia. A printer Colin Macfarquhar and an engraver Andrew bell formed a partnership to create a new book that would embody the spirit of scholarly. In 1768 William Smellie was engaged to edit the original three volume work.
